It would probably be better to use WP e-Commerce with the newCrafty Cart Theme. Combined you get a much more industry standard e-Commerce solution / end result. This is better idae for people wanting to sell online :P

Why do you say that’s a better idea?

Your suggestion would require paying a transaction fee, with an ongoing fee of at least $10 per month.

The Market Theme is as easy as uploading a Wordpress theme, activating it, and editing a few settings.

I agree with the first poster, crafty cart w/ the e-commerce plug-in is much better for simple selling online.

Not sure what the the other poster is talking about in reagrds to a $10 monthly fee? Both the crafty cart theme and the e-commerce plug-in are free, unlike Market theme which is $55. A bit too expensive as well, IMHO.

I think the crafty cart theme and the e-commerce plug-in are foundation, but if he want his products sell well! Spend a little money is normal. :)

I have been checking both of these options out for the past couple of days. WP ecommerce has both a free and paid version. You also have to use add-ons to get some other features. I’ve played around with the free one a bit.

In the end I may go with market theme because I am more comfortable working with a theme rather than the plugin. We’ll see!

If you guys have any suggestions or further advice I would love to hear them.

    Thanks
    Jason
